Here is some terminology I use:

(...)* denotes how many times to repeat what is inside the parentheses

st = stitch

mc = magic circle

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

tc = triple (or treble) crochet

dtr = double treble crochet

sl st = slip stitch

fpdc = front post double crochet

bpdc = back post double crochet

blo = back loop only

flo = front loop only

sc2tog = single crochet 2 together

hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together 

dc2tog = double crochet 2 together

dc3tog = double crochet 3 together

inc = increase (make 2 of whichever stitch you have been working with in the same stitch)

dec = decrease

fo = finish off
