Mini Amigurumi Crochet Sock Monkey Pattern

This is a miniature sock monkey that I made using the pattern from Amigurumi To Go. It is designed to be a larger monkey, but I used size 10 thread and a size 9 - 1.40 mm hook and it turned out about as long as my pointer finger.

Crochet Bookmark

This is a crocheted bookmark that I made using a bracelet pattern then adding a border. Here is the link to the bracelet pattern. I am copying the pattern here in a format that is easier to read and adding the border pattern, but the original pattern came from bhg.com.

I used a size 9 - 1.40 mm hook and one strand of embroidery thread.

Ch 8. 

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (7 st)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), skip 1st st, dc next st, sk 1 st, 5 dc in next st, sk 1 st, dc in last 2 sts. 

Row 3: Ch 3, sk 1st st, dc in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts. 

Row 4: Ch 3, sk 1st st, dc in next st, sk ch 1 and next st, 5 dc in next ch 1 sp, sk next st and ch 1 sp, dc in last 2 dc. 

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until desired length. 

Border: ch 1, turn, sc in next st, 3 sc in 5 dc st, sc in next st, 3 sc in the middle of the dc st, sc in the ch 3 st.

Continue all the way around the bookmark, sl st into the base of the first 3 sc st, then finish off.

Flower Bookmark from Petals to Picots

This is a flower bookmark from Petals to Picots. The pattern is for a bracelet but I didn't sew it into a circle and am using it as a bookmark. Here is the pattern - Flower Bookmark Pattern.

I used one strand of embroidery thread so it would be thin enough to fit inside of a book.

Pretty Lace Crochet Bookmark from Petals to Picots

Here area couple of lace bookmarks I made using the pattern from the Petals to Picots blog.
I tend to crochet tightly, so I just chained until it looked like the right length for a bookmark then followed the rest of the pattern.
I used one strand of embroidery thread so it would be small enough to fit inside a book.
I used ribbon for the pink bookmark, but just used thread woven in and out of the holes for the blue bookmark.

Lace Crochet Bookmark

Thses are a couple of lace crochet bookmark that I made from a lace bracelet then added a border.

   For the blue bookmark, I followed the instructions for the bracelet and made it as long as I wanted, then instead of finishing off, I chained 5, then single crocheted in the top of the clusters all the way down the side, bottom, then up to the top again. I slip stitched in the base of the first ch 5 and finished off.
   For the orange and white bookmark, I followed the instructions for the bracelet and made it as long as I wanted, then instead of finishing off, I chained 3, sc in space, ch 2, sc in same space around.
After weaving in the ends, I blocked it.
I used one strand of embroidery thread so it would be very thin.

Flower Lace Crochet Bookmark

This is a pattern for this crocheted flower bookmark. You start with the flower and one side, finish off, then crochet the other side starting from the opposite side of the flower.
I used a size 9 - 1.40 mm hook and one strand of embroidery thread to crochet this bookmark.

Ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring

Round 1:  Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc – 8 sc.

Round 2:  Ch 1, sc in same st as join, ch 3; [sc in next sc, ch 3] 7 times; join with sl st in first sc – 8 sc and 8 ch-3 spaces.

Round 3: Sl st in next ch-3 space, ch-3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same ch-3 space, ch 2; [3dc in next ch-3 space, ch 2] 7 times; join with sl st in top of beginning ch – 24 dc and 8 ch-2 spaces.

Round 4:  Ch 2, dc2tog, [ch 3, sc in next ch-2 space, ch 3, dc3tog] 7 times, ch 3, sc in next ch-2 space, join with ch 1, hdc in top of dc2tog (counts as ch-3 space)—7 dc3tog, 1 dc2tog, 8 sc, and 16 ch-3 spaces

Row 1 - Ch 3 (counts as dc), [(dc, ch 2) 2 times in next ch-3 space] 2 times, dc in next dc.

Row 2 - ch 4, turn, skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, (dc, ch 2) 3 times in next ch 2 sp, dc in same sp, skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, dc in last dc.

Row 3 - ch 4, turn, skip next ch 2 sp, (dc, ch 2) 3 times in next ch 2 sp, dc in same sp, skip next ch 2 sp, dc in last dc.

Repeat row 3 until half of the desired length.
Finish off & weave in tail.

Row 1 - Sl st in pedal on the opposite side of the flower and ch 4 (counts as dc), [(dc, ch 2) 2 times in next ch-3 space] 2 times, dc in next dc.

Row 2 - ch 4, turn, skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, (dc, ch 2) 3 times in next ch 2 sp, dc in same sp, skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, dc in last dc.

Row 3 - ch 4, turn, skip next ch 2 sp, (dc, ch 2) 3 times in next ch 2 sp, dc in same sp, skip next ch 2 sp, dc in last dc.

Repeat row 3 until bookmark is the desired length.
Finish off & weave in tail.
You can weave in a ribbon through the middle if you want.

Lowly Worm #2

When I made my second Lowly Worm, I decided to try to make my own pattern.
A few things I did differently from the original lowly pattern:

• Sew the bowtie on after you are done because when you are working with something so small, you rub against it while you are finishing the rest and it gets frayed.
• Do the eye in one piece instead of sewing the black part onto the white.
• I sewed the hatband on after I sewed the hat to the head. It's a little easier to put the band on when the hat is more stationary and already formed.
• I completely redid the foot. The foot for the first one I did was hard because I was working with such small yarn. I'm still not 100% happy with it but I think it is a bit easier to do.

The one on the left is Lowly #1, The right one is Lowly #2

• When you change colors make sure to slip stitch the colors together so it won't look like mine when I went from the collar to the neck.

Here is the pattern:
Embroidery thread - separate the strands so you only use 1 strand at a time.
1 Skein of white thread
1 Skein of red thread
1 Skein of green thread
1 Skein of blue thread
1 Skein of black thread
1 Skein of coppery brown thread
1 Skein of golden light brown thread
Size 10/1.30 mm crochet hook
Pipe cleaner (a white one will not look so odd if it happens to show through)
Needle
Some stuffing

Ch = chain
St = stitch
Sl st = slip stitch
Inc = Increase, or 2 stitches in 1 stitch
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet
Tc = triple crochet
sc2tog = single crochet 2 together
sc3tog = single crochet 3 together
dc2tog = single crochet 2 together

Using white
1. Ch 10, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7 st, 3 sc in last ch, place a stitch marker - 11 st
2. Sc in back loop of next 7 st, 3 sc in last st - 21 st
3. Do not turn, sc in next 8 st, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next10 sc - 24 st
4. Sc in next 7 st, dc2tog in next 6 st (total of 3 dc2tog), sc in next 7 st, sc2tog in next 4 st (total of 2 sc2tog) - 19 st
5. Sc in next 7 st, dc2tog in next 2 dc (1 dc2tog), Dc2tog in next dc and sc (1 dc2tog), sc in next 7 st, sl st in last st - 17 st
 Change to red
6. Sl st in 1st sc, sc in next 5 st, sc2tog in next 6 st (total of 3 sc2tog), sc in next 6 st - 15 st
Make sure the tail of the white thread is gone or else it will show up in the next row.
7. Sc in next 5 st, sc2tog in next 2 st (1 sc2tog), sc3tog in next 3 st (1 sc3tog), sc in next 4 st, sl st in last st - 12 st
Change to green
8. Sl st in 1st sc, sc in next 11 st - 12 st
9-25. Sc in each st around - 12 st
26. Sc in next 11 sc, sl st in last sc - 12 st
Change to blue
27. Sl st in 1st sc, sc in next 11 st - 12 st
28-39. Sc in each sc around - 12 st
By this time I noticed that one side was higher than the other. If yours doesn't look like that then just do the next row as sc in next 11 st, sl st in last st. Otherwise, follow the next row.
40. Sc in next 6 sc, sl st in next 6 sc - 12 st
Change to white
41. Sl st in 1st sc, sc in next 11 st - 12 st
42-42. Sc in each st around - 12 st
43. Sc in next 11 sc, sl st in last sc - 12 st
Change to brown
44. Sl st in 1st sc, sc in next 11 st - 12 st
45-48. Sc in each sc around - 12 st
49. *Sc, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around - 18 st

Finish off.

Hat - Using Green
1. Make a magic circle and sc 6 in it - If you don't know how to do a magic circle, this is a good tutorial.
2. *Sc, 2 sc* around - 12 st
3. sc, inc - 18 st
4. sc 2, inc - 24 st
5. In back loops only: sc in each sc around - 24 st
6-7. In both loops: sc in each sc around for 2 rows - 24 st

8. *sc in next 2 st, sc2tog* around - 18 st
9. sc around - 18 st
10.*sc in next 2 st, inc,* - 24 st
11. sc in next 3 st, inc,* - 32 st
12. sc in next 4 st, inc,* - 36 st
13. sc in next 5 st, inc,* - 40 st

14. In front loops only: Ch 3, tc in each sc around - 40 st

Finish off but leave a really long tail.

Use your tail to whipstitch around the row you just did to help the brim stand up. If you sew the back loops (the ones that you crocheted into) that will leave the front loops free to help the brim stand up more.

Whip-stitching around

Stuff the hat and use the remaining part of the tail to sew the hat onto Lowly's head.

Hatband and Tassel - Using Golden Brown

Chain about 20 st (as many as you need to be able to slide the ring down over the hat easily), sl st it first ch.

Sc in each ch around.

Finish off, leaving a tail.

Before you secure the brim to the hat,

Take about an inch of your entire skein and tie it onto the band like this.

After you have it tied on, you can cut down to the length that you want for the tassel.

Use your hatband tail to sew the hatband and tassel onto the hat.

Bowtie - In Red

1. Ch 6

2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across - 5 sc

3-7. Ch turn, sc in each sc across - 5 sc

Finish off but leave a very long tail.

Weave tail through the rows to the middle.

Wrap the tail around the middle to make the bow shape, then use the tail to sew it on.

Eyes - make 2

Using Black

Make a magic circle and hdc 8 in it, sl st to the 1st hdc.

Change to white.

2 Sc in each st around.

Finish off and use tail to sew on.

Embroider a smile and you're done!!!
If you want to, you can turn it into a keychain like I did to my first one.
